A Week of Horses, Fun, and Faith

Summer Saddle Camp is a half day program for kids 8-14 years old. Saddle Camp will be packed with activities such as: learning how to know how to handle horses both on the ground and in the saddle, how to care for horses (including barn chores), understand horse behavior, colors and markings, breeds, horsemanship terminology, etc. There will also be daily Bible studies often relating back to the daily horse lesson.

We’re thrilled to introduce Saddle Camp—a special, horse-focused week offered just once each summer at Camp Peniel! With extremely limited availability, this unique experience fills up fast, so don’t wait to grab your spot!

Saddle Camp is a dream come true for horse lovers. It’s designed to take our regular horse program to the next level with more time in the saddle, more time in the barn, and even more opportunities for hands-on learning and connection with these amazing animals.

Camp Dates:

June 30 – July 4, 2025

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity!

Because of the hands-on nature of this program, space is very limited to ensure each camper gets plenty of individual attention, both from instructors and the horses. This smaller group size also allows us to create a safe, encouraging environment where friendships and faith can flourish.

Saddle Camp only happens once a summer, and it’s unlike anything else we offer. If your child lights up around horses—or if you’re looking for a camp experience that combines fun, growth, and purpose—Saddle Camp is it.

Spiritual Impact

A Christ-Centered Horse Experience

Horses can be very beneficial to both children and adults in all different walks of life. God uses horses to heal, build character, and ultimately to shape His children into whom they were created to be.

Beyond the fun and learning, what makes Saddle Camp truly special is the purpose behind it. In the midst of all the barn time, we remain focused on what matters most: helping campers experience the love, truth, and presence of Jesus.

Each day includes faith-based teaching and reflection, often woven into the activities or shared through focused devotionals. Just like in all of Camp Peniel’s programs, our goal is to meet kids where they are and help them grow—spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.

Important Info

What to Expect at Saddle Camp

This week is all about diving deeper into the world of horsemanship and having a blast while doing it. Campers will get to experience:

  • Daily riding time to build confidence and improve technique
  • Hands-on grooming and horse care to learn responsibility and bond with their horse
  • Creative horse-themed games and activities
  • Fun, interactive worksheets to reinforce what they’re learning in and out of the saddle
  • Time to just be with the horses—brushing, leading, observing, and connecting

We love how this extra time allows us to be creative, flexible, and intentional with each camper’s experience. Whether your child is already horse-crazy or just curious, Saddle Camp is a space where they can explore, grow, and feel empowered.

Horse Safety

Camp Peniel uses the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) standards for the outline of our program. Our instructor is Certified through CHA in both English and Western riding. All campers and instructors must wear a helmet while riding and campers are always supervised by our barn staff. Barn staff must pass our Child Safety Course and have a clean background check.
