What Makes Camp Peniel Unique? Many questions should be asked when looking into the summer camp that is a good fit for your camper. One of the first and most important questions to ask is why is this camp unique and how does that influence my decision? We believe that the educational and career background of the directors is vitally important. You can learn more about this by clicking on Meet The Staff. A camp is only as good as its staff, and we think our staff are some of the best around. Employment will tell you more about our selection criteria and how we go about finding great Christian role models for our campers. Safety and medical considerations should also be made. Click on Safety and Healthcare to learn more about our practices and high standards for your child's care. Many parents are concerned about the well-being of their child in regards to fitting in socially or whether they will be homesick. Our staff does a tremendous job of plugging campers in immediately and helping them meet their cabin mates. At the same time, we work hard to keep the program fun and exciting to avoid homesickness. We ask you to look hard at our program in thinking about your child's camp experience. First, our camp philosophy is founded on growth...growing the whole child: physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually. Second, our true emphasis is placed on the individual camper. We do not serve youth groups or large community groups in the summer. Our mission is to reach every camper and connect with them in a real way, providing a unique experience away from home. Third, this individual emphasis is seen through our relational ministry to campers. We hire staff that have a desire to love kids as Christ loves them. Their charge is to reflect the character of Jesus so that campers not only hear about the Gospel but see it lived out. Fourth, we offer a creative camp program with endless opportunities for fun and a chance to let kids be kids.
Getting Ready For CampThe strength of our camp comes from God being placed first in all that we do, a strong sense of tradition, a mindset focused on safety, and the development of an unbelievably fun environment. Camp is focused on individual attention and building one-on-one relationships. We pull these components together to deliver a camp experience unlike any other.
Sometimes it is hard to know how you can be involved in your child's summer camp experience since you aren't with them at camp. Getting ready, reading the information, and reviewing the packing list will help you get your camper prepared for camp and keep you involved in the process. If there is anything that the camp can do to assist you, please don't hesitate to let us know! We are looking forward to having your child with us for this exciting time in their life. See you soon!
Check-in begins on Sunday afternoon at 3 PM. Please do not arrive earlier than 3:00; we want our staff to be 100% ready for your children! However, for an easy transition for the children please plan to arrive as close to 3:00 as possible.
Our Saturday Morning Closing ceremony begins at 10 AM. This is a very special time for each camper to share with their parents what they have learned at camp. Please make every effort to attend. No family has ever intended to miss the Closing Day, but it does happen. It is tough for a child to watch other campers with their families and realize that their family is not there. For this reason, it is important that you ARRIVE BY 9:45 on Saturday. Please plan to take your children home right after the ceremony.
We encourage campers to attend without concern for hometown buddies but we will make every effort to place your child with a special requested friend, if that friend also requests your child. We will not place more than 3 friends in the same cabin. With over 50 years of experience, we know this to be the best arrangement for all campers in the cabin. Coordinate your child's cabin mate choices carefully and with the other camper parents as they need to agree with one another and must be within a year of the same grade. One of the real benefits of a camp experience involves meeting and making new friends from different places. Encourage this openness and flexibility and they will have a great time!
We offer screen as well as air conditioned cabins. As a "rite of passage" the older campers are in the screen cabins, while the younger ones enjoy the air conditioning.
Thank you for your cooperation.
